Schoharie Fire Department

Niagara Engine Company No 6, Inc

The Schoharie Fire Department has become one that is aggressive, yet well trained, with firematic and administrative officers that are both optimistic and practical. Located in rural upstate New York thirty miles south-west of the State's Capital, Albany, our district covers about twenty-seven square miles of diverse terrain. From rolling, forested hills to our east and west side separated by the Schoharie river valley, we run five fire apparatuses out of one station with a volunteer staff of about thirty members.

The Schoharie Fire Department averages 95 calls per year, providing fire, rescue, and fire police services to our district. We have developed great partnerships with our neighboring companies of Central Bridge, Esperance, Gallupville & Middleburgh, resulting in the establishment of mutual aid contracts. We also provide assistance to Scho-Wright Ambulance Service as needed.

Additionally, the Schoharie Fire Department provides an enhanced fire safety program to our local school students, scout programs and to other groups upon request.  We also own a full-size fire safety trailer and a table-top hazard house - two interactive, educational tools that we use to help deliver our fire safety message.

As of March 2013 - Niagara Engine Company No 6 Inc. is a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  What does this mean to you?  All donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of IRS regulations!
